Dr. Mathew Joys
Edmonton, Alberta: Indo American Press Club (IAPC), an association of media professionals of the Indian descent in North America, has elected a new team of Office Bearers for its Alberta Chapter. The new executives have been elected in the meeting held in the presence and leadership of IAPC Founding Chairman and Director, Ginsmon P. Zakharia, Director Board Secretary Dr. Matthew Joys, Director Board members Mathewkutty Easow, Dr. P V Baiju, Thampanoor Mohan( Vancouver) and Ashly Joseph (Niagara).
The new office bearers elected are: Joseph John (President), Binoj Menon Kuruvayill, (Vice President) RevirajRaveendran (Vice-President), Vivik Irumbuzhi (Secretary) Rijesh Peter (Joint Secretary) , Dr. Ann Abraham (Treasurer), Shahitha Rafeek (Advisory Board Chairperson), Jiji Padamadan (Advisory Board Member), Rajeev Chitrabhanu (Advisory Board Member), Thomas Pullukkatt (Advisory Board Member), and Noble Augustine (Advisory Board Member).
Joseph John, who has been elected as the Chapter President is a media person in the Global Reporter Channel. He started his public life as an ecological activist through Kerala Shasthra Sahithya Parishath (KSSP). He also worked as the District President of the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement and the District Convener of the Technical Students Congress and other regional organizations. He is one of the past presidents of the Malayalee Cultural Association of Calgary. He is also one of the founding members of NAMMAL( North American Media Center for Malayalam Arts and Literatue), and one of the chief organizers of Kavyasandhya ,a forum for literature lovers in Calgary. He is also a member of the Canadian Media Guild.
Binoj Menon Kuruvayill, elected as Vice President, is working in the Global Reporter channel as its Edmonton Reporter.
Reviraj Raveendran , the other Vice President is also a Calgary based video journalist based in Calgary and he works in Global Reporter Channel and NAMMAL Media .
Vivik Irumbuzhi, elected as Secretary, was one of the directors of the Dhwani News, is an actor, anchor, and a videographer who is also running a YouTube Channel by name ‘Canadian Malabari’. He is also and director and partner of CANMA Entertainments.
Rijesh Peter, elected as the Joint Secretary, is a print and graphic professional, who has worked in the “Indian Currents” weekly in New Delhi and in the prestigious Creative Hot Spot K Factor as its assistant art director. He also works as one of the lead editorial hands behind the Souvenirs published by St. Mother Teresa Church Calgary, and Malayalee Cultural Association of Calgary. Additionally, he also does the art direction and marketing of these publications.
Dr. Ann Abraham, elected as Treasurer, who was a Project Coordinator for one of the Canadian Magazines, and an academic Journal Reviewer- (Educational Research)Springer. She is also one of the lead hands behind the Souvenirs published by St. Mother Teresa Church Calgary, and also, associating with NAMMAL media projects.
Shahitha Rafeek, who was elected as the Chairperson of the advisory board, is a freelance writer. She is a blog writer and works as a program coordinator at a non- profit organization.
A member of the Advisory Committee, Jiji Padamadan is a reporter for the Global Reporter Channel’s Edmonton Bureau. He is also working as a mentor heal therapist at the Alberta Health Services. Over 10 years, he has been leading and cooperating with various programs for the identity and development of Malayalees.
Rajeev Chithrabhanu is based in Calgary, and an engineer by profession who writes in various periodicals published from North America. He used to be the coordinator of Malayalee Cultural Association of Calgary. He is one of the chief organizers of Kavyasandhya, a forum for literature lovers in Calgary.
Thomas Pullukkatt has been working in Edmonton Journal and Edmonton Sun for the last twenty-five years.
Noble Augustine is a teacher of English, Financial Secretary of Knights of Columbus, and the PRO of St. Mother Teresa Church, Calgary. He was the chief editor of the souvenir 2018 published by the SyroMalabar Community in Calgary.
